Lunar Dwelling is a work that displays a Angamiana Floridula (cicada) as the main focal point. The cicada is known for it’s symbolism of transformation, resurrection, renewal, and spiritual realization. The skulls represent the many “little” deaths we all undergo when trying to achieve a greater self. All the stones and steps and arches represent pieces of knowledge attained along the way to help build a greater self or Magus Opus. Along with the skulls and stone there stands a crescent moon and a full moon symbolizing duality, transformation and intuition. Underneath the frame are illustrations of skulls, crypts and tombstones on fire all representing the old must be burned away by the great fire element that brings renewal and purification. Sitting on the top is a great eye on a check background. The eye symbolizes the eternal eye, the never sleeping eye or I of ones higher self. Symbolizing life, duality and choice is the checkerboard background.
This wonderful piece can be displayed on the wall but if one is of the magickal arts it can be charged as a talisman on an alter. If this piece speaks to you recite “Through inner sight may I be growing ever closer to my higher self and and the ALL, may the energies of moon and cicada aid me”.
